Today versus from 1 April 2027
Today
Checkinatwork registers presence (IN) before work starts. Employers and contractors can register their own employees and subcontractors; on many sites one person registers the crew in advance.
From 1 April 2027
On the sites concerned, each person registers their own arrival (IN) and departure (OUT), in real time. Registration for these works will no longer be possible in Checkinatwork.
Whether this applies to your site depends on the nature of the works and the total amount. Check applicability per site.

- Besides arrival (IN), departure (OUT) is also registered electronically, for works on immovable property (except cleaning) and the delivery of ready-mixed concrete.
- The person doing the work registers themselves, in real time. According to the NSSO, the employer cannot register in advance.
- According to the NSSO, this concerns employees, self-employed workers, temporary workers and trainees working at the place concerned, including at subcontractors.
- You register via the official NSSO online service Check In and Out at Work, or via external software that registers through the NSSO REST web service. Commercial software is not mandatory and does not remove the legal responsibility of the parties concerned.
